As part of the informal meeting of the Council of Environment Ministers in Graz, on October 30th 2018 the EU delegations came to the showcase business in Styria, recently voted the world’s most sustainable waste disposal company, to inform themselves about innovative processing operations and digital solutions in the recycling business. A guided tour of the high-tech sorting plant for lightweight packaging materials was accompanied by a presentation by the Saubermacher team of its treatment plant for lithium-ion batteries, its ‘wastebox’ online platform and its latest Smart Waste projects, including intelligent refuse containers, all developed in-house.
The state-of-the-art recovery plant close to the Czech capital Prague employs innovative technology to achieve a recycling rate of 96 per cent and complete recovery of harmful gases1 containing CFCs and VOCs. Disused refrigerators, freezers and other refrigeration units are dismantled as part of a two-stage process. The plant processes some 170,000 units every year. Five million Euros were invested in the plant.

Now (construction) companies can simply, swiftly and transparently organise their construction site waste using a smart phone.
The Saubermacher waste disposal app has been awarded the Verein Netzwerk Logistik (VNL, or Association for Network Logistics) Logistics Award 2018. The environmental pioneer was awarded this coveted accolade at the evening gala following the 25th Austrian Logistics Day on 12th June 2018 at the Design Center Linz. The Austrian Logistics Award has been presented since 2008 to companies from industry and commerce that demonstrate outstanding innovation in logistics processes in the pursuit of their corporate goals.
Saubermacher opens new high-tech recycling plant for lithium-ion batteries. The plant has been installed at Saubermacher Group company Redux Recycling in Bremerhaven (Germany). Saubermacher and Redux have jointly been researching and developing processes and technologies for many years. The plant is capable of processing all types of lithium-ion battery and has an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes. The innovative process will allow Redux to achieve recycling rates that are as much as 40 % above the statutory target values. The level of investment in the plant was around three million Euros.

For example, it shows all key figures and quality assessments at the push of a button. Global resource management company Veolia introduces the app developed by Austrian Saubermacher AG for the first time in Germany. Based on the partner network and a franchise system for use of the app, the goal is to develop wastebox.biz into a major waste disposal company.
